Crowded - Sensory Overload in the City
My master thesis explores thoughts, emotions, and experiences of sensory overload as they emerge in urban space, as well as in current global political and digital contexts. It reflects contemporary conditions of overwhelm, disorientation, and alienation. Beyond a visual investigation, the project aims to make sensory overload more perceptible and to invite dialogue around its presence in everyday life.
First glimpses into the project.
The final form of presentation will be developed over the course of the thesis. Want to find out more? Use the contact form to send me a message.

Oh how I [...] Berlin.
Oh how I [...] Berlin, Screen Print & Collage on Paper, 2025, 12 x 11 cm, 1/1
“Oh how I […] Berlin” addresses emotional numbness, a condition that often overtakes city dwellers confronted with constant sensory overstimulation. The work draws on reflections on the “mental life” of the metropolis by the sociologist Georg Simmel. He describes how continuous overstimulation in urban environments produces a state of nervous tension that pushes individuals toward emotional distance and detachment - a necessary protective mechanism that simultaneously fosters social alienation.
The collaged artist book, composed of screen prints based on reflections in storefront glass, fragments my personal experience of the city and processes feelings of estrangement and inner absence. The work positions itself as a conscious engagement with this emotional withdrawal and as an attempt to re-open space for emotional life within the urban sphere - with the aim of reawakening sensitivity and humanity.
Echo Surfaces
Echo Surfaces examines perspective as a mutable view of space and perception. Reflections on urban surfaces form a visual world in which inside and outside, presence and absence merge. The monochrome prints create a timeless visual language that invites viewers to challenge their own perspective and the boundaries of their reality.
